2009 4th Annual Kids Fishing Derby A Wellston Boostera Event June 13, 2009

Saturday, June 13th, was the perfect day for fishing. The WELLSTON
BOOSTERS ASSOCIATION, in cooperation with the U.S. Forestry Service, hosted
their "Fourth Annual Kids Fishing Derby". The derby is held each
year on free fishing weekend. The day preceding the derby, the forestry
service stocks the lake in hopes that our young fishers will be able to
spin their very own fish tale.
"Smokey the Bear" was again on hand to visit with the young and old alike. He provided free goody bags for every entrant. The forestry service held a casting contest for those interested. The following entrants received trophys for their catches: 1st place- Kasey Fairbanks, 2nd- Joe Riggs, 3rd- Garrett Fraly, 4th- Matthew Shoup, 5th- Megan Mulherin. The pre-registration prize was won by Timothy Fraly. This year, once again, due to our generous donators every entrant went home with a prize of some sort. More important to the WBA, however, was the positive experience the children shared with nature. |
